Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing to detect imbalances in body systems, and sensitivities to food and toxic environmental substances. It is,, therefore,, a system of diagnosis and is used by some chiropractors, osteopaths, homoeopaths, naturopaths and nutritional therapists.

The method works on the theory that foods or chemicals to which an individual is sensitive cause muscle weakening due to changing the body’s electrical field. Practitioners place suspect substances in the patient’s hand or under their tongue and check for muscle weakening by pressing against it while the patient holds it steady. If the limb sags or feels “spongy”, this indicates an imbalance. Further tests are carried to find out why, and the patient is treated accordingly.
